On our 2003 trip we took the Canal Saint-Martin boat trip from the Musée d’Orsay up the canal to Parc de la Villette. The 4.5 km trip takes about 2 hours and travels up river from the d’Orsay and enters the Port de l’Arsneal just east of the I’lle Saint-Louis. There it enters the Bassin de l’Arsenal and travels under the Place de la Bastille then starts entering locks in the 10th arrondissement and is finally risen about 22 meters (72 feet) in elevation.
As we entered into the Port de l’Arsneal the captain of the boat told me to be ready for a reflective moment. Here is a photo of my beautiful bride Lois and myself enjoying our canal trip on our 10th Anniversary on the Seine River in Paris, France.
