Well it has been Forty Days since I got home from Paris, and all of this time I have been key wording the 29,684 photos that we took during our April 2014 trip! I have also finally narrowed down the images that I want to seriously look at to print for our up coming showing at Mug Shots, on the brick walls, during the whole month of July.  That narrowed down list now has 399 images in it and I have a date with the printer this Friday the 13th to go over what and how I want the final show images printed. Back to the salt mines as they say!

Our reception has been set for July 9th 5-7pm, 2014 at Mug Shots, 2040 Montgomery St, Oroville, CA 95965. Please join us if you can.

Here are a couple of images that we are thinking of printing!

2014, April, Bassin de l'Arsenal, Canal Saint-Martin, Jardin du port de l'Arsenal, many beautiful walking paths, Paris, Port de l'Arsenal, Seine River, Twelveth Arrondissement

Bassin de l’Arsenal incorporates the Jardin du port de l’Arsenal and the Port de l’Arsenal, all sitting in the Twelveth Arrondissement and along the waterway that starts the Canal Saint-Martin. At the north end overlooking  the Bassin is the July Column and next to the East is the newer Opéra Bastille. I walked from the Column at the north to the south and mouth of the Bassin to the locks that boats use to gain access to and from the Seine River. The beautiful gardens of the port did not disappoint with many beautiful walking paths and flora in bloom!

Colonne de Juillet, The July Column (French: Colonne de Juillet) is a monumental column in Paris commemorating the Revolution of 1830. It stands in the center of the Place de la Bastille and celebrates the Trois Glorieuses — the "three glorious" days of 27–29 July 1830 that saw the fall of King Charles X of France and the commencement of the "July Monarchy" of Louis-Philippe, King of the French. It was built between 1835 and 1840.

Bassin de l'Arsenal, Canal Saint-Martin, Musée d'Orsay, Parc de la Villette, Paris, Place de la Bastille, Reflective Moment, Seine River

Reflective Moment!

On our 2003 trip we took the Canal Saint-Martin boat trip from the Musée d’Orsay up the canal to Parc de la Villette. The 4.5 km trip takes about 2 hours and travels up river from the d’Orsay and enters the Port de l’Arsneal just east of the I’lle Saint-Louis. There it enters the Bassin de l’Arsenal and travels under the Place de la Bastille then starts entering locks in the 10th arrondissement and is finally risen about 22 meters (72 feet) in elevation.

As we entered into the Port de l’Arsneal the captain of the boat told me to be ready for a reflective moment. Here is a photo of my beautiful bride Lois and myself enjoying our canal trip on our 10th Anniversary on the Seine River in Paris, France.
